Phyllis Moore
On Wednesdays, I like to promote other bloggers. Today I’m promoting me. ;0)
My name is Phyllis Moore and I just signed with North Star Press to publish my first novel The people of Akiane. If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I’ve gone back and forth on this.
I was going to call this post, “How many times can one person change their mind?”
Answer: As many time as it take to get it right.
In Why I Won’t Self-Publish, I wrote about how I wanted to work with professionals to produce a top quality novel.
In I had a Publisher, But Not No More, I wrote about how I found a publisher, but was surprised at how little money I would make. I seriously considered self-publishing.
To me self-publishing is more than just publishing a novel on Amazon. I want my novels in bookstores and libraries. I want to advertise in magazines, and interviews in newspapers and on TV.
I talked to several people and thought long and hard, and decided for this book, I will go with North Star Press.
They have more than 35 years experience.
They can get me into books store and libraries.
They know how to market my name.
Another wards, there is a lot they can do for me.
North Star Press only publishes books about Minnesota.
My main character is from Minnesota and travels to an alien world. None of my other novels have anything to do with Minnesota. So this is the only novel they will be able to publish for me.
My plan is to learn from them, and who knows, I may self-publish next time.
So my big news is: I have signed with a publisher.

Congratulations and nice to meet you! Did you know it’s minus 10 in MN today?? Brrrrr
Do I know??? I’m stuck inside because of it.
But having a bad cold has also kept me inside and out of commission. Should be out and about tomorrow.
GET BETTER SOON!
With all my heart, I am trying!
I thought of a better comment …
I hear and obey.
So would I ..
Wow – I’m excited for you: you’re at a critical stage in your writing career – I’m still at the “just-finish-it-already!-then-get-an-agent stage”… but reading blogs like yours keeps me motivated and glued to the keyboard!
Thanks for the compliment. Now if I can continue to inspire by actually selling novels. Guess next year will tell.
Good for you! Congrats!
Thanks.
Well done Phyllis. I’ m sure it was a hard decision to make, and I’m sure you made the right one. Can’t wait to read it all.
Thanks. And the book is coming. I can’t wait either.
