Friday Fiction: After Lunch
Friday Fictioneers is a challenge to write a 100 word story from a picture prompt. It’s hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, anyone can play. Check out the link at the end of my story to see what other fictioneers did with this week’s prompt.
“Where did that come from?”
“Perhaps it’s an invitation to a new world.”
“Perhaps it’s a trap.”
“Well, we won’t know if we don’t cross it.”
“It could be dangerous.”
“It will be an adventure.”
“What if we can’t get back?”
“Then we will adapt to life in an alien world.”
They stood in silence and stared at the gateway to an unknown world.
“You’re right. We can’t spend our whole lives being afraid of what might be.”
“So we’re going?”
“We’re going.”
They took a tentative step for word, stopped, proudly lifted their heads, and boldly move forward.
“Lunch is ready.”
“Coming, Ma.”

Dear Myth,
Cute story. welcome to Friday Fictioneers. it will be easier for others to find you if you add your link just to lower left of the photo on my page. More reads and comments that way, too. 😉
Thanks for the welcome.
I will add my link.
I added my name, but it didn’t come up. Maybe it takes time.
I hope I don’t get an email for every person who writes something. That is far too many emails. I prefer to come looking on my own.
I’m not sure what you did or didn’t do, but it doesn’t appear that you linked. Did you click the done box at the bottom after adding your info? As for your email, the only person who gets it will be me. 😉
I thought I had followed the directions. I’ll try again.
Lovely description of children’s pretend games. I was convinced it was grown ups on the verge of a breakthrough to another world until Ma called them in for lunch at the end.
Thanks. That’s just the reaction I was looking for.
That was very enjoyable.
Thank you.
Welcome to FriFic! Always have time for lunch… See you next Friday…
Thanks for the welcome.
enjoyed the surprise ending.
Thanks.
the action makes the kids seem somewhere about 9 or 10. but the language is more advanced. however, that’s part of the charm, of kids playing pretend. they know how to mimic more advanced speech patterns. well done.
Cool analyzes. The idea was to trick you until Mom calls them to lunch. Glad you liked.
