Friday Fiction: The Dress

“You ready?” window-dressing-janet-webb

“Almost.”

“You excited?”

“Like a 16 year old girl on the night of her social debut.” She giggled.

He smiled proudly. “You certainly deserve the award.”

“I certainly do. All that work was worth it just for tonight.”

His smile turned into a smirk. “Wearing your bathrobe?”

“Silly. My sister brought a dress when she came for the ceremony.”

He looked around the bedroom. “Where is it?”

“It was in storage. To save a trip to the dry cleaners. I hung it on the balcony outside to air it out.”

His smile vanished into a grimiest.

“What?” she asked.

“It’s raining.”
