“I wan’a go home.”

“We just got here.”

“It’s boring.”

“We’re on a new adventure. We’ve never been here before.”

“I’m cold.”

“Button your coat.”

“Don’t wan’a.”

“Then be cold.”

“Don’t make him stay, Aster.”

“But …”

“Just send him back.”

“Fine.”

Aster pulled her sleeve up, did the necessary calculations on her wrist computer. Thornton disappeared.

“He’s still too young for inter-dimensional travel.”

“I was hoping to waken his interest in alien species.”

“We don’t need him anyway.” He snuggled in close. “Let’s enjoy the view.”

Passersby didn’t notice the trashcan disappear or the benches slide together.
