Mondays Finish the Story: Dolly

Mondays Finish the Story is a flash fiction challenge where  a new photo it provided each week, and the first sentence of a story. I’m to write a story the the sentence and photo in mind.

Here is this week’s sentence, which I altered to fit the story:

“After losing her head, Annie Mae realized that the rest of Dolly’s body was falling apart!”

One look at Po Pa and Annie Mae burst into uncontrollable tears.

Po Pa gathered the broken Dolly pieces in one hand and gathered little Annie Mae in his other arm, brought them to his workshop and closed the door.

Annie Mae sat on a stool, sniffed and watched. She never once spoke, asked for something to eat or asked to go the potty. She patiently trusted in her Po Pa’s ability to resurrect Dolly.

Two hours later, after Po Pa was finished reassembling Dolly, he reattached the head.

Dolly and Annie Mae beamed.

The End
