Sunday Photo Fiction: The Party
It was Nellie and Henry’s forty-fifth wedding anniversary. They’d planned the perfect celebration.
They rented the ship for the evening. Invited family and friends.
Four children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Nellie and Henry invited their siblings, partners and children. Those of the wedding party who were still around were invited, along with friends they’d made throughout their married life. They couldn’t all come, but there were more than enough to celebrate a wonderful life of love.
With the ship cook’s help, they planned the meal.
They even picked an affordable motel for everyone to spend the night, with breakfast in the morning before all went home.
They only thing they forgot was to be on time for their own party.
The ship left without them.
