“Don’t give me that,” he said, “she was a weirdo.”

“She was adventurous.”

“She was over the edge.”

“She was daring and courageous.”

“She’s dead.”

“They never found the body,” she said.

“So what?” he asked. “She was at the height of her career. Why would she disappear?”

“Think about it. She left at the greatest moment of her fame, creating one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Instead of her fading away as she aged, she’s forever the mystery lady. This way she never dies.”

“Interesting thought,” a new voice said. “It would have made for a nice ending. In truth, a gust of wind caught her kite and she got lost in the canyon.”

Annoyed that a stranger would butt into their conversation, the other two adamantly disagreed with the new comer’s theory. “She’s been gone for almost ten years.”

“It was such a big canyon. But I’m back.”

“Don’t believe it.” They turned back to their beer and continued their argument.
