Time to Fly

I grew up in this house, staring out this window.

No I wasn’t born here, we bought it in time for our first child.

After the third child, he left me for a newer model.

I remarried. He helped me welcome eight grandchildren.

He too left me—for cancer.

Now this house is too large for me to live in by myself.

This house has too many memories that haunt.

It’s time for me to move on, time for me to spread my wings and fly.

I’ve always wanted to travel. Now I will.

I joined the circus.

The End
