Friday Fictioneer: Quick Steps
David and his twin sisters walked to the lily pond to hangout.
Daisy stood by the pond’s edge. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and said, “One quick step at a time.” She then guided over the lilies to the pond’s only small island.
Rose did exactly the same and joined her twin.
David watched in amazement.
With some hesitation, he too stepped up to the edge of the pond, spoke the same words, and stepped out.
Splash. David went down.
Rose turned to Daisy. “Didn’t you tell him were the stepping stones are?”
Daisy giggled. “I forgot.”
