Sunday Trees 391
Sunday Trees is hosted by Becca Givens and is all about trees and their beauty.
Here is my entry of a fig tree in a nearby conservatory.
When I was teenager, my great-aunt and great-uncle had a fig tree in their back yard. They were too old to climb a ladder to pick figs. They only got what they could reach from standing under the tree.
My first cousin, Penny, and I each carried a pail and climbed up into the tree to pick figs. We eat a lot of figs in those days.
I know a fig tree from the botanical garden – very interesting looking like this one:)
Too bad I couldn’t climb it for old time sake. But this one was a bit small and I’m a bit older. So I’ll have to settle for memories.
We’ve planted a fig tree this year — I am looking forward to our first crop — Hopefully next year! I planted it in memory of my grandmother and memories of her fig tree!!! — thank you for sharing! Happy Mother’s Day!
What great fun. I live too far north to plant a fig tree. Have fun with yours and good eating next year. How about a photo of the little guy?
What a grand dame, your fig tree.
Thanks.
