Friday Fictioneer: Kermit the Frog

PHOTO PROMPT © Jean L. Hays
Jim found a worn-out, light-green, wool coat. After a few tries, he created his first puppet, Kermit the Frog.
In an interview, Jim Henson said, he’d found an old green coat and from the material he made a frog puppet. If he had found pink coat, he would have made an elephant.
Kermit came into being by pure chance and become a lovable American icon, which is known around the world.
You never know what you might accomplish if you don’t try.

I do not know the original owners of these photos, I only show them so you can see what Kermit looked like in the beginning and what he looks like now.
Jim Hanson died on May 10 1990, Kermit the Frog lives on.

Dear Phyllis,
How interesting you chose to write about Kermit the Frog. 😉 Henson’s making the puppet out of an old coat does fit the prompt and, obviously, my choice of inLinkz frog was inspirational. Love the story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Dear Rochelle,
It was your inLinkz frog that inspired me.
Blessings,
Phyllis
We all love Kermit. It’s not easy, being green 🙂
He was apart of a lot of lives.
Interesting to hear how Kermit was brought to life. I had a Kermit toy back in the 70’s. 🙂

I didn’t have a toy, darn, but I was a fan of the Muppet Show.
Intriguing little snippet – who knew it would have turned out this way. Thanks for sharing 🙂
What a wonderful take on the prompt, Phyllis. Love how you took Rochelle’s inLinkz and the photo prompt and created our beloved muppet!
Thank you. ;0)
Long Live KERMIE! Love the glimpse of history here!
Great attitude. I agree, “Long Live KERMIE!”
Where would the Muppets have been without Kermit?
OH my goodness! You are so right. I can’t imagine the Muppets with a pink elephant for a leader.
Entertaining and interesting about Kermit’s origin story. He and Jim made a good pair.
I agree.
I love this, and thank god he found an old green coat, life would be immeasurably different! Fantastic!!
“life would be immeasurably different!” I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you’re correct. How many laughs would we have missed if not for Kermit and his friends?
What a wonderful story… I imagine how it would have looked with a pink elephant instead.
There is a pink elephant cartoon series out there, but I don’t remember his name.
You are correct, it wouldn’t be the same.
