November is NaNoWriMo
November is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, https://nanowrimo.org/. It’s a challenge to all authors to write 1,667 words a day, equaling 50,000 words by the end of the month. That’s not a novel. Novel is 80,000 words, but it is a good start towards a novel.
My friend Shawn Robertson asked if I would participate this year. My first thought was no. I didn’t want to start a new project.
But 50,000 words is 50,000 words. I could use this month to finish writing the first book in my fantasy series. I can write 1,667 words today, easy. Then I remembered, I’m limiting my time on my computer for the sake of my health. I now write for one half-hour twice a day.
I can’t write 1,667 words in an hour. I can’t type that fast. I can’t think that fast. I almost said no again.
Then I realized, I might not be able to write 50,000 words in a month, but I can commit to an hour every day for a month and see how far I get.
Therefore I will be participating in this year’s NaNoWriMo, and depending on my energy level, I’ll see how much I accomplish.
Who else is participating in NaNoWriMo 2022?
Hi. I’m doing this year NaNo for the first time. Bit dissapointed with how things work out there, but I’m giving it a try. November is a hectic month though 🙂
That’s what I said, “Hectic.” I was told busy month was part of the challenge. When I did it the first time, I just sat and wrote. But a friend told me he plans for months ahead then writes. His stories turns out better. Ha.
Whether you plan ahead or not, may you have fun writing. That’s the most important part. 😁
