What Silly Thing?
I just had it in my hands!
Have you ever had something in our hands and absentmindedly put it down while thinking of something else? And lost it? I have.
For a couple of weeks, I’ve had random thoughts for an up coming project. As the thoughts came, I wrote them down on whatever piece of paper was handy, so I don’t forget. Now those notes were somewhere in my work area.
Before they completely vanished, I decided to gather them together and put them in one place.
As I was looking for them, I began to clean. My work area is not too messy, because I periodically organize my two desks. Therefore it wasn’t a big clean up job.
During the clean up, I found the notes on three different pieces of paper. Since I was on a roll, I put the notes aside, and kept cleaning.
By the time I’d finished, I’d lost my notes!
I looked all over for them but couldn’t find them. “But I just had them in my hand! I haven’t even left my chair! They have to be here!”
I leaned back in my chair, took a deep breath, started a systematic search, and found them. I’d put the notes in front of my computer, and had put another pile of stuff on top of them.
What silly thing have you lost, and where did you find it?
Have you found them? I know that’s so annoying. My most recent loss occurred on the computer. A folder of 200+ photos which I was copying onto a USB stick… didn’t reach destination and completely disappeared off the computer. Or so I thought. I eventually found them amongst the downloads folder. How? I don’t know. Gremlins.
Oh, what a blessing to find the folder. That would’ve made me nervous.
Yes, I found my notes. They are now safely tucked away where they belong.
It made me worse than nervous. I still had the originals on the card, but to have to go through them all again… depressing!
Yes, I know that feeling too.
There was a time when I couldn’t open the file and work on the project because I still had that sick feeling.
Good news, it took awhile, but I eventually got over it and was able to move on.
Take your time, you’ll be able to deal with it. too.
Worse than what’s lost on the laptop is what’s lost in my brain. I had a brain virus back in 2005 and between the virus & the treatment it wiped out many pathways to stored information/memories. Have I retrieved them all? How do I know?
So sad. Maybe this might help.
I’ll write something down and think what a brilliant idea. Then I’ll be digging in an old file and find something I wrote years ago that is almost word for word of the brilliant thing I just wrote.
My point is all those thoughts might not be lost. Even if you didn’t write them down, they might still be rumbling around in your brain waiting to come out. And if they don’t resurface, there are plenty of new ideas to take their place.
That’s the great thing about a creative brain, it never stops creating.
The one really positive thing I will say is I had to learn how to write all over again… and I’m now writing my 10th book!
Now I’m jealous! I’ve had to slow down because of being overly tired. But I’ve started a new exercise program and I’m slowly getting better. I’m working towards being normal again and having the energy to get more work done.
I find energy comes and goes. But, managing the walks, and the garden. So what if I cant stay awake late into the night. Never was a good habit!
“I find energy comes and goes.” Same here.
Yep!
