No wonder they call it Mississippi mud cake looking at the colour of that river. It does like a beautifully peaceful spot, Phyllis. Well done on meeting the brief.
Yes, there is a lot of slit in the River.
Army Corps of Engineers dredge it every ten years or so to deepen the river and keep it in it’s banks.
In Louisiana, they say the only thing thicker than the Mississippi is the coffee. It’s that strong and black.
I’m not a coffee drinker.
I wouldn’t drink that brew! Do the bank erode when the mud silts up the river?
Amazingly no. But farther south along the river the Army Core built a levee to keep the river from flooding.
A levee is a 20 foot mound of ground.
Some places have roads on top.
Google “Mississippi River levee images.” You’ll get images of the levees with roads and at flood stage.
Oh that does look inviting
When you visit, I’ll take you. Ha. ;0)
You never know…
Ha!
What a lovely spot! Truly, a sight for the sore eyes!
Thank you. I had the same thought as I was driving by so I stopped and took a photo.
